 The theme for Principals’ Institute 2007 is: The Changing Face of America: Are We Ready to Look in the Mirror? Indeed, the demographic face of America is changing. This new phase of our nation’s growth is influenced to a significant degree by globalization and immigration. The consequences of globalization, technology and immigration present new challenges and new opportunities for schools.
In the midst of rapid cultural, economic and demographic shifts, the fact remains that all children regardless of cultural, social, racial or economic standing deserve to be educated well. And without reservation, the commitment to insure quality education for all students resides with our nation’s teachers and principals. In these fast changing times principal leadership truly matters.
This is your official invitation to the 2007 ATLAS Learning Communities Principals’ Institute. On March 21, 22 and 23, the annual Principals’ Institute will take place in Austin, Texas at the new Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa. This hotel comes with many amenities and above all a very welcoming attitude.
This year’s ATLAS Principals’ Institute will address this new reality. Participants will visit the question, “Are we ready to look in the mirror?” To facilitate thoughtful consideration of the question, we will provide principals and other participants with resources to set aside time for reflective engagement. Speakers with expertise on the theme will join us for pre-session on March 20. Each presenter will provide participants with solid context tools and ideas to consider. And, as is tradition, the ATLAS facilitators will inspire robust conversation among home group members and introduce several ATLAS protocols to deepen our learning.
Lastly, one of the benefits of attending the Principals’ Institute is the opportunity to relax, socialize, meet new colleagues, reconnect with old friends and take in new surroundings.
