	Sunday - Thursday June 24 - 28, 2007 Champlain College Burlington, VT This Institute will design strategies for: Creating a classroom culture of thinking. Using the elements of Teaching for Understanding to adapt, design, and frame one's work in the classroom tied to state and local standards. Examining authentic assessment strategies to assess opportunities for and qualities of thinking in service of building deeper understanding. Essential Questions How can I design learning experiences in my classroom to promote high student achievement and deep understanding of important facts, concepts, and skills? How can I help students demonstrate their thinking, knowledge, and understanding from a variety of tasks, strategies, and assessments? How can this influence how I think about my teaching and what I look for in my students?
