This Institute will design strategies for:
- Creating a classroom culture of thinking.
- Using the elements of Teaching for Understanding to adapt, design, and frame one's work in the classroom tied to state and local standards.
- Examining authentic assessment strategies to assess opportunities for and qualities of thinking in service of building deeper understanding.

Essential Questions
- How can I design learning experiences in my classroom to promote high student achievement and deep understanding of important facts, concepts, and skills?
- How can I help students demonstrate their thinking, knowledge, and understanding from a variety of tasks, strategies, and assessments? How can this influence how I think about my teaching and what I look for in my students?
