8:30 - 8:45     Introduction of Plenary Speaker, Dr. Angela Valenzuela
Respondents, Dr. Vivian Louie and Dr. Gregory Vincent

Undocumented Youth and Their Right to an Education:
From Civil to Human Rights


Dr. Angela Valenzuela, the Haskew Centennial professor in the Departments of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Administration at the University of Texas at Austin, will present her findings that explore the link between global human rights and the education of every child in America.

Dr. Vivian Louie, an assistant professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Dr. Gregory Vincent, Vice President of Diversity and Community Engagement will give responses to Dr. Valenzuela's provocative remarks.
11:45-12:45     Lunch
Weather permitting, lunch will be outside.
1:00 -3:00     Home Groups

Participants will move to home groups where will they engage in conversations and activities in the context of the plenary presentations.

Using Data to Promote Equity & Excellence:
Unleashing the Power of Collaborative Inquiry


Dr. Nancy Love, the Director of Program Development at Research for Better Teaching and who directs the Using Data Project at TERC, will engage participants in the examination of disaggregated and other student learning data that provides a rich opportunity for opening up powerful dialogue around issues of race, class, and culture and examining tacit assumptions about diverse students and their potential.
11:30 - 12:30     Lunch
Weather permitting, lunch will be outside.
12:45 - 1:45     Dr. Nancy Love will reconvene in general session room to set the context for the home group discussions.
2:00 - 3:30     Home Groups

Participants will move to home groups where will they engage in conversations and activities in the context of the plenary presentations.

Participants will engage in a World Café Conversation. World Café conversations are an intentional way to create a living network of conversation around questions that matter.
